Tempo chairs designed by Joseph-André Motte for Steiner, ca. 1960
Produced in the 1960’s by French manufacturer Steiner, the Tempo chair has never been reissued and is now a rare collector’s item.
Joseph-André Motte is one of the most important French designers of the post-war era. He studied by professors René Gabriel and Louis Sognot at the Paris School of Applied Arts. In 1954 he founded the Atelier de recherche plastique (ARP) with Pierre Guariche and Michel Mortier, whom he had met at Marcel Gascoin’s.
