Gio Ponti (1891 – 1979) is the father of Italian modernism, his style lies between tradition and modernity. He worked for several manufacturers (Fontana Arte, Fornasetti and Cassina), craftsmen and designers on decorative pieces of design, with luxurious materials like glass, ceramic, brass, precious wood, etc.
He is recognized as a true master of Italian elegance and good taste. As an architect, a designer and Domus editor in chief, his influence was tremendous and imprinted the history of mid-century design in Italy, but also worldwide.
