Kreuzzargen chair by Max Bill for wb form.
The Kreuzzargenstuhl chair, designed in 1952 by Max Bill, has received numerous awards, including the famous Swiss prize “die gute form”. For this chair Max Bill designed the base with a cross joint, hence the name of the model, which supports the seat in the centre and gives the chair maximum stability. The contrast between the slimness of the seat and the robustness of the frame gives the Kreuzzargenstuhl a powerful yet light appearance and makes it extremely comfortable.
Max Bill (1908-1994) was one of the most important Swiss artists of the 20th century. He studied with Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee, among others, and was a visual artist, designer, graphic artist and architect. In 1950, he co-founded the Ulm School of Design and designed its buildings.
The Swiss brand Wohnbedarf edition, wb form, is available at the Kissthedesign gallery in Lausanne.
