Sideboard, Florence Knoll, Knoll / Wohnbedarf, 1947
The sideboard designed by Florence Knoll in the 1940s is a rare collector’s item. It is made of birch, with two sliding doors lacquered white, on black compass feet. The exemplar is an early Swiss production of Knoll / Wohnbedarf is in good condition, with patina and small restorations. The model is no longer in production.

In 1941 Florence moved to New York where she met Hans Knoll who was establishing his furniture company. With Florence’s design skills and Hans’ business salesmanship, the pair, grew the company into a leading international design manufacture. Thanks Florence, Knoll collaborated with her friends Eero Saarinen, Harry Bertoia, and Mies van der Rohe.
