Rare ceramic coffee table, Bjorn Wiinblad, Haslev, 1950.
Rare coffee table by Bjørn Wiinblad. The famous Danish ceramic artist has produced very few tables with this pattern, and each one is unique because the tiles are handmade. With its saturated and strong colours complemented with golden accents, the example available here is iconic for Wiinblad’s work. A brass tag with the artist’s signature is fixed under the table top.

Bjørn Wiinblad (1918 – 2006), was a Danish painter, designer and artist working in ceramics, silver, bronze, textiles and graphics. His work was widely exhibited in Europe, the United States of America in 1954, and then in Japan, Australia and Canada in 1968. Among Bjørn Wiinblad’s many achievements, we can note the illustrations he made for Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Pig Boy”, the posters of the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen or the Royal Danish Ballet.
