David Curchod | Derrière ce masque tout va bien | 2014

DAVID CURCHOD, DERRIERE CE MASQUE TOUT VA BIEN
Exhibition from september 19 to december 6, 2014.

For the saison-start Kissthedesign gallery is pleased to present the new works by swiss artists David Curchod (*1971).

David Curchod, graduated in visual art from the ECAL, Lausanne, in 1997, develloped since several years a work mainly articulated around papercutting. His works are composed by many layers of fine cutted paper, sometimes coloured or leaved blank. The material looks fragile and contrasts with the crudeness even violence of the content. Because the human, his flesh, bones, boday and face, is fascinating David Curchod.

David Curchod is reinventing the swiss papercutting tradition thus keeping its narrative potential. He appropriates a sensitive and feminine art and brings it in the here and now, even if it retains a poetic and floral aspect. He use this traditional technic with contemporary codes, neon pink, pop or punk iconography and kitschy celebs.
